Keep reading to learn more about this amazing brand of cat food!

The first step of knowing what to feed your cat is seeing at what age stage they are at. Kitten's and elderly cats have a harder time chewing solid dry foods, so Royal Canin's wet cat food line is the purrfect solution. Its solid block can be broken right down with a spoon in order for kittens to consume the food easier in their early stages.

First Kitten Stage (Ages 0 to 6 Months)

Kittens are the most energetic cats of all. From birth to 1 year old, they will have gone through 15 human adult life stages. From babies, toddlers, children into rebellious teenagers. So, using the right food from day one is so important. This is why Royal Canin created Mother & Babycat formula. This soft mouse treat is perfect for tiny mouths to easily munch on. You can even mix in the dry cat food rehydrated cubes to help kittens grow into their sharp teeth.

Second Kitten Stage (Ages 6 to 12 Months)

When kittens finally try solid food for the first time, it can always be a struggle to pick the right food for their growing bodies. Royal Canin has made the decision simple by creating the most nutrient-rich and immune support recipe. The only choice now is to decide what style your kitten will love the most.

Loaf Style

The loaf style comes in a more solid brick shape and is recommended for kittens between 6 to 12 months. They offer the same nutrients but help kittens grow into their teeth by needing to use them to rip parts off the loaf.

Jelly Style

The Jelly Style option can be used for younger kittens as it's easier to break with growing teeth. The prices are in a more bite-size consistency and the added jelly helps growing kittens gain strength in their jaws.

Gravy Style

The final style is the perfect option for new kittens just getting into solid foods. The gravy helps make the bite-size pieces easier to break down while adding a delicious flavour.

The Method

It is also important to consider that you need to use 3 pouches in order to cover one meal for a growing kitten if you only feed them these. If you mix  45g of Royal Canin Kitten dry food in with a single pouch then that covers a solid meal for them.

REGULAR CAT STAGE (Ages 1 to 7)

Now that your kitten has matured into a cat, it's time to consider changing their food and supporting their overall gut health and maintaining a beautiful shiny coat.

Royal Canin has a wide range of supportive wet foods that you can combine with dry food in order to give your cat the most effective and delicious meals. You can also use these foods on a lick mat with cats, these are recommended for anyone whose cat is a fast eater.

Light Weight Care

If you have found your cat has put on weight too quickly in their kitten stage, this is a great option to add to meals instead of cutting back on foods. Customers have found that following the Royal Canin lightweight care nutritional programme, over 90% of cats have achieved a healthier weight in just over 2 months. The feeding instructions are similar with 3 & 1/2 pouches for a full meal or 1 + 43g of regular dry cat food to make a solid meal.

Instinctive Food

It can be hard to feel cats' meals they have not grown-up eating, such as shelter cats or strays. This option is formulated to match the optimal nutritional profile instinctively preferred by adult cats. This is a great option if you are slowly changing your cat's food from their kitten stage into adulthood or you have adopted a shelter animal and want to switch them from those meals onto this meal plan. The feeding instructions are quite similar to others, but you will look useless. 2 + 3/4 make up the person solo meal but when mixing with dry food you can use 1 pouch with 35g of dry food. This food type also comes in loaf, gravy and jelly style to help switch kittens onto new food but not change the textures up so quickly.

Intense Beauty

As cats are self-cleaning animals, helping maintain their coats from the inside out is very important. That's where the intense beauty style wet food comes into play. This item contains added omega 3 & 6 to help maintain a beautiful coat with these fatty acids. The feeding style is once again smaller than the last, so it is also a more financial saving option. You only need 2 & 1/2 pouches to make up a full meal, but you can mix this food option with 29g of dry food. To get that extra beauty boost, we recommend using Hair & Skin by Royal Canin.

Breed Specific - Siamese, Persian, British Short Hair & Maine Coon

SENIOR CAT STAGE (Ages 7+)

While cats often live for up to 15 years, most cat breeds are considered senior pets after the age of 7. By the time they are one year old, the cat will have ages a whopping 15 human years in development. So, by the time they are around 5 years old, they will roughly be around 36 - 40 human years. For senior breeds, Royal Canin has the perfect mix for you. Starting with wet food.

Ageing 12+

This wet food was designed for super senior cats over the age of 12. This mix supports joint health with help from EPA (Eicosatetraenoic acid) and DHA (Docosahexaenoic acid). These together help maintain joint health in older cats due to their high levels of these fatty acids. The feeding guide says you should use 2 + 1/3 pouches per meal or if you are looking to mix this, Royal Canin suggests using 31g of their Ageing 12+ dry food.

Urinary Support

It's always a good idea to support the growth stages when it comes to ageing. As cats get older, it can be great to support their urinary function with this option. You can switch it in and out of other food options. It is a great product to mix with any of the Royal Canin dry foods. You can mix 1 pouch with 37g of dry food.
