WALLINGTON'S WRG DONATES TO LOCAL COMMUNITY GARDEN PROJECT

Wallington's has always prided itself on being a pillar in the Bellarine community. From local football clubs to creating the market space that has grown into our Local Pantry. Most of all we love helping other community groups to support people in need. Earlier this year, Wallington WRG donated 4m³ of the new sustainable Geelong compost to a local community garden project Springdale Community Garden Inc.

This back-to-basics community garden helps to provide spaces for members to grow fresh organic produce for the Drysdale Foodbank project. The Foodbank provides emergency food, clothing, and household goods to those in emergency situations. The Australian bush being prone to bushfires, this service could not be more important. Any over-produced food that is not required at the Foodbank is then donated to residents and members of the garden project.

The Geelong compost that was donated is made from organic waste that was collected from household green waste bins each week. It is then processed at the new composting facility built out in Anakie. Not only is the compost truly organic, but it is also an extremely sustainable and eco-friendly product. The facility even recycles its own water to reduce overall wastage at the plant.

The staff at Wallington's are always incredibly happy to be able to help our local community in this way. It has always been part of the company's motto for almost 20 years.

'Wallington's vision is to inspire our community with possibilities and commit to personal customer solutions'
