Scoria is a lightweight volcanic stone with a beautiful claret colour. Scoria has several useful characteristics for a variety of landscaping and construction applications for garden beds as in-organic mulch, bottom drainage layer in pots and planter boxes, lightweight drainage material behind retaining walls, high temperature insulation and as a bedding media for underground pipes. It is somewhat porous, has high surface area and high strength to weight ratio.
