Pryde’s EasiFeed LupinPak is a concentrated lupin-based horse feed designed to add cool calories and quality protein to an existing ration. Made with extruded lupins and cold pressed canola oil, it is suitable for horses that need support for condition, weight gain, muscle development, or topline without relying on traditional grain-based energy sources.

This feed is supplied as a small extruded cube, making it easy to measure and mix into a horse’s regular feed. It can be used to top up a ration where additional energy is needed, particularly for horses that need to gain condition, maintain body weight, or receive extra protein as part of their daily diet. Because it does not contain added vitamins and minerals, it can be paired with a suitable complete feed, balancer pellet, or supplement to help maintain a balanced ration.

LupinPak is grain free and grain by-product free, with a low starch and sugar profile. This makes it a useful option for owners looking to reduce or replace grain in the diet while still providing meaningful energy and protein. It may be considered for horses requiring controlled starch intake, although any horse with laminitis, ulcers, tying up, metabolic concerns, or other health conditions should be managed with veterinary or equine nutrition advice.

The combination of lupin protein and canola oil makes LupinPak a practical choice when extra calories are needed without significantly increasing the bulk of the feed. Lupins provide a useful source of protein, including amino acids important for muscle and topline support, while cold pressed canola oil contributes additional fat and essential fatty acids. The formula also includes salt and is intended to be fed as part of a forage-based diet.

Pryde’s EasiFeed LupinPak can be used as a ration top-up where extra energy or protein is required. The manufacturer provides replacement guidance for common feeds, including oats, barley, bran, pollard, rice bran, EnergyPak, and PowerPak. As a guide, 1 kg of oats may be replaced with up to 850 g of LupinPak, while 1 kg of barley may also be replaced with up to 850 g of LupinPak. Feeding amounts should always be adjusted to suit the individual horse.

For best results, introduce LupinPak gradually over two weeks and feed it with ample forage such as pasture, hay, or chaff. Clean, fresh water and salt should be available at all times. If feeding more than 0.5 kg per 100 kg of bodyweight in hard feed per day, divide the ration into two or more smaller meals to support good feeding management.

Because LupinPak is not a complete feed, it should be used within a balanced feeding programme. Pair it with an appropriate fortified feed, balancer pellet, or vitamin and mineral supplement to meet the horse’s broader nutritional needs. Adjust feeding rates according to body condition, workload, growth, pregnancy, lactation, training level, and the quality and quantity of forage available.

Pryde’s EasiFeed LupinPak is a practical option for horse owners wanting a simple way to add lupin-based energy and protein to the diet. It is especially useful where a grain-free ration top-up is preferred, while still allowing flexibility to balance the overall feed plan around the horse’s individual needs.
