Home Brewing Recipe - American Lager

This thirst-quenching American Lager is crisp and dry with mild hop flavour and aroma. We have incorporated pilsner malt to create a light-bodied easy drinking beer ideal for those warmer months. Overall this is a beer you will keep coming back for more!

Note: Results may vary depending on the types of equipment used. If using the Grainfather, go to grainfather.com to strike water and sparge water calculations. Final batch volumes may vary depending on the brewing system used.

Ingredients for the American Lager

4.8kg - Joe White Export Pilsner Malt

115g  - Joe White Cara Malt

60 min - 20g Hops #1

15 min - Whirlfloc Tablet

10 min - 15g Hops #2

1 min - 15g Hops #2

1 Packet - Fermentis Saflager S23 Ale Yeast

Brew Time: 3 - 4 weeks

 

This kit also includes hops products, The exact flavours are a store secret. Exact Hop's names are given on the recipe card in the kit.

Instructions

Mash Schedule: 63°c for 60 mins, mash out at 75°c for 10 mins (optional: add 5.2pH buffer to strike water)

Lauter/Sparge: Sparge with enough 75°c water to achieve 26L pre-boil volume

Boil Schedule: Boil for 60 mins, adding hops and whirlfloc as indicated.

Fermentation: Cool wort at 20°c, aerate wort and pitch yeast. Ferment at 11°c for 2 weeks or until SG reaches 1.010. Raise temperature to 13°c for 2 days to reduce diacetyl, then transfer to keg/carboy/secondary fermenter/ Lager beer at 2°c for a minimum of 4 weeks before bottling or enjoying.
