Wallington's Home Brewing Recipe - Weiserbud American Light Lager

Designed for the sheer pleasure of enjoying a beer with reduced concern for alcohol content, the Weiserbud is a smart choice for those drinkers who may need to front up to work after a Sunday session. Light in both malt and hops flavours, this lager style of beer used Hallertau to get the job done and may end up disappearing quicker than you anticipate!

Ingredients for the Weiserbud American Light Larger

3.1kg - Briess 2 Row Base Malt

750gm - Briess Flaked Corn

60 mins - 15g Hops #1

15 min - Whirlfloc Tablet

1 x - Fermentis Salflager S-23 Yeast

Brew Time: 3 - 4 weeks

 

This kit also includes hop product, The exact flavours are a store secret. Exact Hop's names are given on the recipe card in the kit.

Instructions

Single infusion mash schedule: 65°c for 90 mins, mash out at 75°c for 10 mins (Optional: add 5.2pH buffer to strike water)

Lauter/Sparge and bring wort to boil. (Ensure minimum 28L pre-boil volume to reduce DMS)

Boil for 90 mins, adding hops and whirlfloc as indicated.

Rehydrate yeast and pitch @ 15°c. Slowly decrease the temperature to 10°c and ferment for 2 weeks or until gravity reaches 1.007.

Transfer to bottle or keg and condition for a minimum of 4 weeks at cool temperatures (2-3°c)

(Optional: Rack to a secondary fermenter after primary fermentation and larger at 2-3°c for 4 weeks, then transfer to keg or bottle)
