A newer style of beer, based upon the India Pale Ale, but in Lager form. Slightly higher in ABV and hopped up to 11, this is a light-bodied, straw yellow, high alpha, fruit-driven, clean finished, ultra-refreshing, subtly bittered glass of deliciousness.
Ingredients
- Morgan’s Golden Saaz Pilsner
- Coopers Light Malt Extract
- W-34/70 Yeast
- Idaho 7 hops 50g
- Azacca hops 50g
Method
Warm up the Pilsner and LME in some hot water for 20mins or so and then pour into your sanitised fermenter and dissolve in approx 2-3 litres of hot water. Top up the fermenter with cold water to 20L only, this will give a slightly higher ABV for the style. The lager yeast provided with this kit is designed for colder fermentation but will be happy if it’s kept under 18°C.
With the wort temperature of 12°-16°C, pitch the W-34/70 yeast.
On the colder side, this beer should take up to 2 weeks to reach final gravity.
Once the activity has ceased and gravity is stable for 2 days, it’s time to dry hop.
Pour the contents of the Idaho 7 and Azacca hops into the fermenter (using a hop straining bag if desired) and leaves for 3 days of contact.
After 3 days of dry hop, proceed to bottle/keg.
Refrigerate for 2-4 weeks before consumption.
